Retirement Planning

This is a document that sets out guidelines for dealing with life-sustaining medical procedures in the eventuality of your sudden debilitation. For instance, it can express your desire not to be kept alive through artificial or extraordinary means if you were to suffer a terminal condition in the future.

Some provinces (Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Quebec) allow for the creation of this living will or what may be referred to as a power of attorney for personal care or health care directives.

These should be prepared in consultation with your family physician, in addition to a lawyer and family members.
